Our Story and Purpose
My name is Elaina, I am 10 years old I started Believe in the good to help people. Even if you can’t see it there’s a little sparkle of good and hope in this world!
Seeing people on the side of the street while being driven to school and events I saw they were cold and suffering. I knew that I wanted to help. At 6 years old I started using my gift money to purchase hygiene items, gloves, beanies, emergency blankets, bottled water and non perishable snacks to make homeless bags. We delivered these bags on the side of the street and in encampments so that our unsheltered people received these necessary items that would help them feel cared about.
In early winter 2023, I was told that the Venezuelans were being dropped off by the bus loads in Denver, Aurora, and other neighboring cities. I saw children who had to do things like wash car windows, beg or try to sell flowers. I've never had to do that or even thought that it was a thing required for food, clothing, or little toys. Through my school, I held clothing drives especially focused on coats, shoes, pants, and shoes or boots and healthy snacks as these families were not dressed for the weather in Colorado. I can't imagine being dropped off in the middle of winter with flip flops and the clothes on my back. I was able, along with help of family and friends to gather, sort, wash, and deliver roughly 90 loads of warm weather gear, shoes, blankets, diapers, children and adult medicine, and food to the various shelters housing migrants. The shelters removed the refrigerators, and microwaves from the rooms making it very challenging to bring food that was nutritious, but shelf stable.
